10 Things I Hate About You

10 Things I Hate About You

Title - 10 Things I Hate About You
My Admission - $6.00
One Line Review - Endearing vision of Shakespeare, revisited.

Review - Released on video about a week ago, 10 Things I Hate About You shows the world that a high school film can be above average, smart, and funny.

A loosely based re-working of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew, 10 Things gives us a tightly twisted view of 6 high schoolers trying to get a date.  And the lengths they'll go to, to get one.

Maniacal, sly, inventive, and cool, 10 Things is a riot.

Directors Gil Junger (TV Director) and Mark Irwin (Dir of Photography: Scream & Dumb & Dumber) have assembled a stellar cast of young faces you've seen before and can be guaranteed to be seen again.

The Actors:
Heath Ledger (TV's ROAR and next year's The Patriot, w/Mel Gibson) as the Tamer.  Young, mysterious, & (possibly) dangerous.

Julia Stiles (TV's 'The 60's') as the Shrew.

These 2 really make the film worthwhile.  Both characters are very intelligent and the heated banter between them is well dialogued and

Joseph Gordon-Levit (TV's 3rd Rock) as the 'Do anything for love' guy just can't lose.  He's wry and just as humorous as he is on 3rd Rock.

David Krumholtz (The Slums of Beverley Hills, The Ice Storm, & The
Santa Clause) is the funniest kat in the film.

Larisa Oleynik the sister who loves her popularity.  Too bad she can't date until her sister can.

And the cast rounds out with a pair of adult actors whose names escape me and research has not provided them but they are the father of the 2 girls and the soft-core porn writing guidance counselor.

Well written, well acted, & cool soundtrack.  It's a gas.
