Monster's Ball

Monster's Ball

Title - Monster's Ball
My Admission - $3.00
One Line Review - Clasic 'Indie Film' Boredom.

Review - In the classic style of independent films, Monster's Ball ranks as one of the boringest films I've seen.  Unemotional and dull, Monster's Ball is an exercise in patience

Monster's Ball is almost a comedy of errors, without the comedy.  A bevy of tragedies befall two families and in the aftermath the unknowledgeable survivors find love, hope, and a big helping of crap. I'm very upset that I didn't enjoy this film.  Billy Bob Thornton, Halle Berry, Heath Ledger, Sean Combs, and Peter Boyle...How can you go wrong?

In a film about racism, death, family, and future, one hopes to find a connection with the characters.  I'm really not sure if an effort was ever made to do that but if it was, it went so far over my head that I had no chance of ever catching it.  Damn shame.

The acting's not bad but it's not interesting or especially groundbreaking.  Kudos to Halle Berry for getting an Oscar nod but, her performance is not enough reason to sit through the film.  Another shame.
